Estigmas

Costume design project based on the Spanish movie, Estigmas, and adapted to the year 1840 in the western United States. Characterization, time period research, and creation of inspiration boards were involved in the process of designing and creating costumes for specific scenes of the movie adaptation. Native American religious beliefs of being one with nature-inspired the clothing.  Textiles utilized were dyed and manipulated to create the effect of the natural animal hyde.  Costume sketches reflect the characters’ roles and setting.
